Abstract:
In the talk, Dr Vidyasagar will introduce the so-called SUTRA (Susceptible, Undetected, Tested positive, Removed Approach) model for modelling communicable diseases, with COVID-19 being a prime application. He will share the origins of the model, and how it can be calibrated on the basis of actual data -- something that is often ignored. Then he will share predictions for various countries including Japan, USA and UK, as well as India. The talk will conclude with some reflections on the possible "third wave" in India.
