Hello Fellow Richmond Computer Society Members,

This is a call for nominations to be part of the team that will lead your Richmond Computer Society over the next year. You may nominate yourself or others, and we are soliciting nominees for all four officer positions; Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. Please note that training and mentoring for all positions will be made available, so don't let current "qualifications" detract you from nominating yourself for a particular position.

You know IEEE is the world's largest professional association advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.  We publish technical journals, sponsor conferences, develop technology standards, and support the professional interests of more than 400,000 members. IEEE creates an environment where members collaborate on world-changing technologies - from computing and sustainable energy systems, to aerospace, communications, robotics, and healthcare - to engineer a better tomorrow.

As the home for computer science and engineering leaders, the IEEE Computer Society is the premier source for information, inspiration, and collaboration in computer science and engineering. Connecting members worldwide, the Computer Society empowers the people who advance technology by delivering tools for individuals at all stages of their professional careers. Your local chapter, in its short history, has positively impacted our community through STEM-related events for all ages and technical abilities. Now is your chance to lead us to new levels of community involvement and enhancement.

So please consider submitting a nomination by 26 November 2020 to be part of the continued growth of your local Computer Society to any member of the nominating committee:

Richard Garcia - aquia@verizon.net

James Imanian – james.imanian@ieee.org

Brenda Spielman - brenda.spielman@comcast.net

Tom Starai - tom@starai.net

We plan on releasing the initial slate of officers on 27 November and hold the election the week of 28 December. These final dates will be provided in our next communication to you.

If you don't want to serve in an officer position but want to become more involved in your Computer Society, have any questions on the election process or the roles and responsibilities of these officer positions, please contact james.imanian@ieee.org.

Sincerely,

James Imanian – Chair of the Computer Society Nominating Committee
