Abstract
Machine learning is a subset of AI that allows systems to predict from past data. By going directly to the data, we can gain valuable insights and make predictions. This field of science, though not new, has gained fresh significant momentum in recent years. Machine learning blends programming and statistics to build models that can predict or identify underlying patterns. This is an important skill for analysts and data scientists, who essentially turn raw data into refined trends. These days, machine learning is used everywhere ranging from analyzing customer data for predicting attrition to annotating new genomic sequences from biological data. Making data driven decisions and recommendations is what today’s world is focused on. Machine learning allows you to take a data driven approach of improving systems without human supervision and heuristic tweaking as new data arrives. In this talk, Er.Deepa Mohan will cover the introduction to machine learning.
Profile of the speaker
Deepa Mohan is a San Jose based data analytics professional who has been working in the industry for over 25 years in companies such as Oracle, Amazon, Netapp, VMware, Ebay, Hitachi, Nortel Networks, and Realtor.com. Starting out as an applications developer, she gravitated towards data engineering as data is her passion. She has published many articles around Product management and Machine Learning. Being in Grace Hopper Conference’s mentoring circle committee for more than 2 years, she reviews the applications and selects the final set of mentors who present at the Conference. As a speaker in technical panels around AI/ML in IoT conferences, she has also been a panel member for topics around using data in decision making in the recently held Master Data Marathon where representatives from 30+ countries presented. Being on the board for Shakti Rise and Create, she manages events and moderates’ panels around tackling day today business problems. Being in the magazine committee, she was the member of the Board that organized the Global Meet in Silicon Valley in 2018.
