The Speaker, Dr R Subasree is a clinical Neurologist with 8 years research and academic experience in Neurology with specific expertise in Cognitive Neurology, Stroke and has passion for BCI and Neurorehabilitation. She is currently affiliated to NIMHANS, a tertiary referral care centre and academic institute of National importance catering specifically to the needs of Neuroscience and Mental health. She has worked on BCI research during her Fulbright Nehru Fellowship at University of Houston with Prof. Jose Contreras Vidal and upon return is working in close research collaboration with Indian institute of technologies in the field of BCI. An overview of techniques of non-invasive BCI will be discussed in relevance to Clinical applications from a neurologist perspective .This interdisciplinary area of interest needs expertise from Clinical neurologists, Neuroscientists, Computer scientists, AI and ML  experts, Electrical and Electronic science Engineers and Signal processessing experts  and needs understanding of Applications of BCI from clinical perspectives as well. This talk will shed light on some of the clinical applications of Non- invasive BCI based on EEG,SSVEP,P300 etc and will appraise the audience about the scopes of BCI in neurorehabilitation. Speaker will also share her experience of EEG based BCI research work in the field of stroke rehabilitation.

Speaker

Dr. R. Subasree did her MBBS from Madurai Medical college in 2004 and Doctorate in
Medicine( Neurology) from National Institute of Mental health and Neurosciences
(NIMHANS) in 2010.She worked as Assistant Professor at NIMHANS in 2012. Currently
she is working as additional Professor at Dept of Neurology, NIMHANS. Her research
Interests include Cognitive and behavioural Neurology, Stroke (CVT) and Brain computer
Interfaces
Fulbright Nehru Academic and Professional excellence Fellow (Research in BCI,
University of Houston-Aug 2019 to Jan 2020) with Prof Jose Contreras Vidal. She has won
Young investigator awards ,travel awards and Research grants. She has several national and
international presentations and publications.
