Abstract: Innovation is the key to develop advanced technologies needed for the 21st century. It has tremendous impact on commercial and military products as well as economic and societal impacts. Great examples of innovation are light bulb, wheel, automobile, transistor, iphone, GPS, internet, World Wide Web, computer to name a few. United States is planning to spend $100 Billion over the next five years through “Endless Frontier Act” to maintain global leadership in technology and innovation in ten key technology areas including advanced communication systems. This talk briefs about what is innovation, why engineers innovate and how to proceed with the process of innovation and patent filing. Few examples of innovations by the presenter will be given at the end of the talk.
