In continuation of the Webinar series on "Industry and Research Perspective on Data Science" organised by Department of Information Science and Engineering-NMIT, UNISYS India Pvt. About the Topic: Natural Language Processing or NLP is the branch of Artificial Intelligence that enables computers to understand, interpret, and manipulate human languages. It is one of the most valued skills in the industry today. In this webinar, the fundamental principles of NLP and the techniques used for analyzing large amounts of textual data will be covered. We will try to understand the practical business cases where these techniques are used to get useful insights from large scale unstructured data. This will be followed by a deep dive into two of the most important practical applications of NLP in today's world.

About the Speaker: Ruma Mukherjee is the Principal Architect for Emerging Technologies at Unisys, India. She is passionate about analytics and is conversant with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative techniques. A data geek, innovator and team builder, Ruma has around 18 years of work experience in successfully building products from concept to production. As a data Architect in Unisys, she has mentored data teams, designed and developed several analytics features in the areas of Real-time Prediction, Risk Analytics and Conversational AI. Prior to Unisys, she has worked at IBM Software Labs, Juniper Networks and Novell. Her expertise is in the areas of Statistics, Big Data, IoT, NLP, ChatBots and Machine Learning. Ruma holds a Masters in Computer Science from ISI Kolkata and BTech from IIT Kharagpur.
