 Greetings !!!

 The month of February was mainly dedicated towards planning of new initiatives, leveraging on existing activities and advancing technology for humanity. Lets hope that we will be able to create an ecosystem that is sustainable and ensures the growth of all the stakeholders.

Events held during the month of February 2020­­­ at IEEE Pune Section

1. IEEE Pune Section’s 1st Execom at was conducted at VIT on 1st Feb 2020 where Chair of various Societies and Affinity Groups were appointed. The brochure of “Shunya”, An educational drive towards heritage, culture and arts was launched during the meeting.

2. All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society's Institute of Information Technology IEEE Student branch organized expert talk on “Role of Control Systems In Robotics” on 03 Feb 2020.

3. AISSMS Institute of Information Technology IEEE student branch organized expert talk on "Commercialization of Quantum Computing Usage on Mass Scale" on 11 February, 2020.

4. Pune Institute of Computer Technology IEEE Student branch organized seminar on “Competitive Coding” by Abizer Lokhandwala on 11 Feb, 2020.

5. Pune Institute of Computer Technology IEEE Student branch organized seminar on “Software Development In Cloud Era” by Sujal Pareikh, Microsoft on 12 Feb, 2020

6. IEEE Education Society in colloboaration with  Pune managament Association and IEEE Pune Section conducted an interactive session on  "Virtual Reality and Augumented Reality" on 13 February, 2020.  This event was Co-sponsored by Pune Management Association.

7. International Conference on Industry 4.0 Technology 2020 (I4Tech 2020) was organized during 13-15 Feb 2020 by Department of Instrumentation Engineering and Computer Engineering, VIT, Pune and was technically sponsored by IEEE Pune Section. Dr. Ramanujan Kashi delivered the Keynote address and Dr Dhananjay Singh from South Korea gave a talk on Industry 4.0

8. JSCOE IEEE student branch organised two days workshop on “Electrical Vehicles, Career Opportunities” in Association with Entrepreneurship Development Cell, JSCOE On 14^th and 15^th February 2020 in JSPM Hadapsar campus for all engineering undergraduates students.

9. Jagdish Choudhari participated as a jury member of Humanitarian Hackathon organized by Symbiosis Statistical Institute on 16th February 2020. He presented a book on Shashwat Sheti to Dr S. B. Mujumdar, Founder and President of Symbiosis, Dr. Anand. Karve during the event.

10. Pune Institute of Computer Technology IEEE Student Branch (PISB) organized National Computing Contest (NCC) Wildcard (online contest) on CodeChef (https://www.codechef.com/NCC2020) on 22 February, 2020. This contest was participated by students of Saint Petersburg State University, Russia, National University of Lviv,Ukraine, other international universities, IIT Institutes such as IIT Bhilai, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Delhi, IIT Dharwad, IIT Guwahati, IIT Indore, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Patna, IIT Roorkee, IIT Ropar, IIT Tirupati, NIT Uttrakhand, NIT Kurukshetra, IIIT Pune, IIIT Bangalore, NIT Calicut, WCE Sangli, IIIT Alhabad, IIIT Vadodara,  Infosys Limited,  IITM Gwalior, BITS Mesra, IIIT Manipur as well as many colleges across India. The first two winners of this NCC online coding competition were student Stepan Filippov, Saint Petersburg State University, Russia and student Bohdan, National University of Lviv,Ukraine.

11. The interview for the post of Section Student Representative (SSR) and Co-SSR for the academic year 2020-21 was conducted on 25th Feb.2020 at 1.30 pm at Conference Hall, AISSMS IOIT, Pune. The committee to interview the candidates and evaluate comprised of Mr. Jagdish Chaudhari (Vice Chair), Mr. Mandar Khurjekar (Execom member), Dr.Neha Sharma (Execom Member) and Mrs. A.D.Shiralkar (Student Branch Counselor AISSMS IOIT, Pune). The Committee assessed a total of 25 and recommended Mr. Gourav Sonawane from AISSMS IOIT for the SSR role for 2020. Since the committee found two other candidates from different colleges to be active and useful, they have proposed creation of Co SSR role to ensure good collaboration across different branches. The committee further proposed following names to carry out different responsibilities to drive the SB activities of Pune Section smoothly.

12. IEEE Signal Processing Society, Pune chapter and IEEE students Chapter Cummins College of Engineering organized Industry expert session on “Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality” at Cummins College of Engineering, Pune on 27th Feb 2020 at Mechanical Dept Auditorium, Cummins College of Engineering, Pune. The speaker was Dr Jaya Panwalkar, Ex. Senior Director, NVIDIA Graphics and Chairperson, board of governors, SVNIT,Surat

 13. Neha Sharma, Execom member, IEEE Pune Section delivered a talk on "World of Data Science" at Symbiosis Statistical Institute on 28 February.
