Think research grant, think research output. What is a free way to disseminate your work especially if you have no grant or little funds? Present your poster at UNITE and expose your work to a very diverse audience. What opportunities await? Best posters will receive awards and the overall best poster will win a Koala breakfast for 2 valued at $120

 

2. Call for nominations - NSW Outstanding Volunteer Awards Deadline 31 August

The awards recognize the contribution NSW members make to the IEEE and its vision of advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. The four awards are:

-           IEEE NSW Outstanding Volunteer

-           IEEE NSW Outstanding Young Professional

-           IEEE NSW Outstanding Women in Engineering Volunteer

-           IEEE NSW Outstanding Student Volunteer

The winner of each award will be presented with a plaque at the annual NSW Section AGM held in November. The winners of each category will be nominated by the NSW Section to the respective Region 10 and Australia Council awards.

3. IEEE PES Distinguished Lecture - Polygonal Voltage Space Vector Generation Using Switched Capacitive Filters for Drive Applications

Abstract: The dodecagonal voltage space vector structure generation for an induction motor drive with open-end structure will be introduced in the first part of the lecture, and then it will be extended to the normal three-phase IM drive using a switched capacitive H-bridge acting as a fifth and seventh order harmonics, throughout the modulation range,

7.5. UNITE2019 - Industry Focused Power Quality Research

Abstract: Prof Perera Director of the Australian Power Quality and Reliability Centre (APQRC) has been closely working for many years with a diverse range of stakeholders in Australia on power quality issues of significant relevance.  These stakeholders include electricity transmission and distribution sectors, standardising bodies and industries in general.  This talk will present a brief overview of several projects, some of which have led to high level research and some have led to significant industry impacts at national level.  The presentation will conclude with an overview of the vision for future activities.

7.7. UNITE2019 - Australia’s Past, Present and Future in Space Technology

Abstract: IEEE Fellow Prof Karu will provide a brief overview of Austalia’s past involvement of space technology including Australia’s role with the Parkes radiotelescope to assist in the reception of the first communication to Earth from a human walking on the moon in 1969. He will then discuss his latest advances working on the twin-array antenna system aboard the world's first entirely Ka-band CubeSat satellite – Audacy Zero. He will conclude discussing future opportunities.
