Dear PES Members (of IEEE UP Section)

To recognize emerging and innovative research accomplishments in power systems, energy, power electronics, and related fields, IEEE PES/IAS Joint Chapter UP Section has initiated an award, titled “Best Master’s Thesis Award”. Through this award, the Chapter advances the interests of the students by recognizing their contributions in advancing the fields of power and energy to the benefit of society.

The Award aims to-

• Discover and reward the innovations in power and related fields.
• Motivate students to undertake further research in the field related to power and energy.

This award looks to encourage research in the fields related to power systems, power electronics, high voltage, renewable energy, electrical machines, energy market, and other fields like big data analytics with application to power and energy domain.

Target Participants-

All full-time students who have completed their master’s degree in areas related to power and energy (M.Tech or MS) from any university/institute/college within the geographical area of IEEE UP section.

Eligibility Criteria-

Nominations will be accepted based on the following criteria-

• Applications must be in the research area related to the scope of PES and IAS.
• Only recently completed research work is eligible for entry. Date of thesis defense must lie between 1^st Aug 2018 and 31^st July 2019.
• This award is intended for master’s category only; any graduate or doctoral nomination will not be accepted.

Submission guidelines-

• The applicant should submit the soft copy of filled in the application form given in Annexure I (find the attachment).
• Completed application form with mentioned documents in a ZIP folder must be sent over email to pesias.up@gmail.com with the subject line “Application for Best Master’s Thesis Award 2019 - <FULL NAME of Applicant>”
• All applications must be received on or before 31^st July 2019.
• Winner will be felicitated with a certificate/plaque on 14^th Sep 2019 during the “UP PES IAS Congress 2019” to be held at IIT Kanpur.
