Greetings!!!

 We are gathering momentum as the date for PuneCon (30th Nov, 1st & 2nd Dec) is fast approaching. The paper evaluation has been completed and tutorials for the conference have been announced. We have been able to get well known personalities from the technical field as Guest of Honor, Keynote Speaker and speakers for invited talks.  Would encourage each one of you to actively participate and benefit from this international conference being jointly organized by IEEE Pune Section & Symbiosis Institute of Technology. Look forward to support from all the members to make this event a huge success. 


Another major upcoming event is "IEEE SPS Winter School 2018 on Advances in Machine Learning and Visual Analytics for Forensic and Security Applications" being held in MIT World Peace University from 10th to 14th December. 


I have been conducting talks on "Preparing for Industry 4.0" at various colleges and the response has been extremely good. We will continue to partner with institutes for creating awareness on the subject and to help them align their curriculum to meet the demands of the industry. 


Significant momentum has been generated by various Student Branches (SB). Various SBs conducted events such as Design Thinking Workshop at MIT WPU, IOT for Affordable Agriculture at AISSMS, visit to Pabal Vigyan Ashram and Hackathon in partnership with Austin city at PICT.  I happened to witness some of these events and was very much impressed by the work being done by IEEE volunteers and student community at large. We need to sustain this momentum through committed volunteering efforts. 


Activities of  Special Interest Group for Affordable Agriculture are shaping up well and we have recently signed MOUs with six Engineering Colleges for collaboration. IEEE student members can explore opportunities for taking up technology projects in agriculture domain. 


Last but not the least, I would like to draw your attention to  IEEE Pune Section Awards for which you need to apply before 30th October. The winners will be announced  during our Annual General Meeting in December.

  1. The Seventh Execom meeting of IEEE Pune Section for the year 2018 was held at Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, Pune on Saturday, 14th July 2018

  1. The JSCOE IEEE Student Branch in association with Telecommunication Student Association (TESA) of Electronics Telecommunication Department organized an Expert lecture on 16th July. The resource person for the training programme was Mr. Vaibhav Tarate (Entrepreneur and Mentor at Semiconductor Training @Rs1).
  2. IEEE Pune section Student Branch Meet was held on 17th July 2018 at AISSMS Institute of Information Technology, Pune. The meet was attended by two eminent speakers Mr. Ganesh Hingmire, Chairman, Great Mission Consultancy Group and Shri Vinayakji Chatre, CEO & Founder, Forbaco Systems.

  2. SS12 Project Competition which was organized on 2nd August 2018 at PCCOE, Pune

  2. Execom meeting for the month of August 2018 was conducted on 18th August 2018 at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Lavale Campus. Along with the execom meeting, there was a review meeting of forthcoming mega event of IEEE Pune Section ie. PuneCon 2018

 

  1. IEEE Region 10 SYWL Congress 2018 during 30 August -2nd Sept 2018was attended by Dr. Rajesh Ingle (SAC Chair, IEEE Region 10), Dr. Surekha Deshmukh (YP Chair, IEEE Pune Section) and Dr. Rajashree Jain (WIE Chair, India Council) Student community at the congress

 

  1. Mr. Jagdish Choudhary, IEEE Execom member, conducted a visioning workshop at SPPU Statistics department on 6th September 2018

  1. A major joint venture that was undertaken, named Austin-Pune International Hackathon:

  1. Dr. Neha Sharma, Execom Member, IEEE Pune Section had conducted a session on “Blockchain – An Emerging Trend” at G. H. Raisoni, Wagholi for the students and on “IEEE membership Benefits” for that faculty members and students of Computer Science Department on 18th September 2018.

 

  1. Credenz, the annual technical symposium organised by the PICT IEEE Student Branch on 21-23 September 2018.

  1. City partnership between city of Austin, USA and Pune, India on different urban development meter, knowledge exchange, business development was signed on 26 September 2018.

 

  1. Three days workshop on “IoT for Affordable Agriculture” was organized from 27-29 September 2018 at AISSMS Institute of Information Technology. The workshop was organized in association with IEEE Young Professionals, Pune Section.

 

  1. Student Transition and Elevation Partnership Programme was organized from 29th September 2018.

a)      Mr. Girish Khillari, Vice Chair, IEEE Pune Section and Mr. Jagdish Choudhari attended workshop on Organic Farming at Gram Pani Panchayat founded by Late Vilasrao Salunkhe and Kalpanatai Salunkhe on 19th August 2018, as a part of SIG activity.

 

b)      Mr. Girish Khillari, Vice Chair, IEEE Pune Section and Mr. Jagdish Choudhari participated in All India Grape Grower Association’s annual gathering at Balewadi Stadium on 24th August 2018, as a part of SIG activity.

 

c)      Mr. Jagdish Choudhari and Mr. Shakar Tagad from SIG for Affordable agriculture  Ambejogai and Kerwadi, Gangakhed visited on 12th September 2018. They met two NGOs named Manavlok and Swapnabhumi  and held a meeting with farmers. The idea is to start collective farming pilots in collaboration with these NGOs.
