 What is LyX?

LyX is an open source document processor that lets you concentrate on writing, leaving details of the visual layout to the software. Think of LyX as the What You See is What You Mean word processor. All the common formatting intelligence of LaTeX is presented to the user through visual controls. LyX really shines, though, when composing complex documents like technical documentation, doctoral theses, conference proceedings and books. It also includes many standard formats and templates.

 Users already acquainted with "raw" LaTeX will find that LyX offers full LaTeX transparency and export of LaTeX documents.

In this workshop, you will learn:

 *        Creating your first document in LyX by setting margins, header/footer

*        How to insert multilevel lists/figures/tables/equations

*        How to insert chapters/Sections/Subsections/Table of contents

*        How to add a bibliography

*        How to add 'live' references links to figures/table captions/sections/pages/literature citations

*        How to track changes

*        How to use LyX's thesis template

 Presenters:

Refreshments will be served.
