Dear All,

IEEE SSIT-ES Bangalore Chapter and IEEE-IISc are organizing a two-day workshop to address various issues on the subject of creating smart cities. The workshop will be of interest to all stakeholders of an urban ecosystem from experts and administrators involved and interested in developing smart cities to citizens, organizations, institutions and academia including students and college faculty.

The aim of this workshop is to identify what constitutes a Smart City and to deliberate on how smart cities can be made sustainable by identifying the barriers and suggesting solutions.

Tentative Topics that will be covered during the two day workshop:

Day 1: 16^th March 2018

Challenges in the creation of Sustainable Smart Cities

1. Overview of Sustainable Smart Cities: Mr. Amitabh Satyam, Chairman, Smart transformations & author of The Smart City Transformations
2. Challenges in Building Smartcities: Mr. Anjum Parwez, Secretary, Department of Urban Development, Government of Karnataka
3. Traffic Management: Mr. Abhishek Goyal, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Bangalore City
4. Challenges in Health Care: Dr. Shrutin Ulman, Philips Healthcare
5. Sustainable Urban Energy systems: Dr. Kumudhini Ravindra, Principal-Strategic Innovation & Research , Innomantra

Day 2: 17^th March, 2018

Potential solutions to the creation of Sustainable Smart Cities

1. Smart Cities in an Indian context: An historical prospective: Dr. Meera Iyer, INTACH, Bangalore
2. Sustainable Transportation: Mr. Muthukumaraswamy DPK, CEO, Krutibimb Concepts
3. Cyber security in the context of smart city: Mr. Venkatesh Murthy, Director, Data Security Council of India (DSCI)
4. Smart Health: Mr. Raghavendra Prasad, Co-founder, Qikwell Technologies (Practo)
5. Smart Citizens: Mr. Karthik Ponnappa, Co-founder & Principal at Smarter Dharma

This will be followed by the creation of a working group for preparation of a Sustainable Smart Cities Action Plan
