IEEE Photonics Seminar: Integrated Optofluidic Biosensors will be presented by Distinguished Professor Arnan Mitchell from the Micro Nano Research Facility (MNRF), RMIT University. It is organised by IEEE Photonics Society Chapter Victoria and MNRF, RMIT University. This talk will an overview of the current state of the art of optofluidics - combining integrated photonic and complex microfluidics to achieve fully automated lab-on-a-chip and point of care biosensors. An introduction to the field will be presented along with the basic operating principles of some of the biosensors. Tuesday 5th December 2017, from 6:00 pm(refreshments) for a 6:30 - 7.30 pm talk at RMIT University, Building 80, Level 10, Room 17, 445 Swanston Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3001. Leaky-wave antennas: from niche applications to mass market will be presented by Prof. Karu Esselle, Department of Homeland Security-sponsored Awareness, Macquarie University, Sydney. It is organised by IEEE A&P / MTT Chapter Victoria. This talk will focus on recent developments in LWA antenna research and practical outcomes, including some that have the potential to further extend applications of LWAs to mass communications such as wireless local area networks and emerging 5G mobile systems. The 3rd Australian Microwave Symposium (AMS) with sponsorship from IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) Australian Chapters will be held on 6th-7th February 2018 in Brisbane, Australia. This symposium is held biennially to provide a forum for the Australian microwave research and engineering community to share their latest technical achievements in microwave and RF components, circuits, and systems. The AMS invites prospective authors to submit original papers in the form of either one-page abstract or two-page full paper on all areas of microwave and RF technology.
