Abstract:
    
The presentation on German specifics of education students in creative problem solving will report about the educational experiences at the Universities in Berlin and Offenburg and will describe one-semester-course of 60 hours in new product development with the Advanced Innovation Design Approach and TRIZ methodology, in which a typical industrial innovation process for one selected interdisciplinary mechatronic product is modelled. As students often demonstrate lower motivation in learning systematic inventive techniques in comparison with the engineers, the presentation will discuss the factors that impact better innovation and problem solving performance of the students, and underlines the main difficulties faced by the students in the course, especially in case of interdisciplinary problems. Additionally, the experiences of colleagues from other German universities will be shared.

 The second part of the presentation describes  the German Advanced Innovation Design Approach (AIDA) as a holistic method for enhancing innovative and competitive capability of industrial companies. The name Advanced Innovation Design Approach (AIDA) was proposed in the research project "Innovation Process 4.0" run at the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg, Germany in co-operation with 10 German industrial companies in 2015-2017. AIDA can be considered as a pioneering mindset, an individually adaptable range of strongest innovation techniques such as comprehensive front-end innovation process, advanced innovation methods, best tools and methods of the theory of inventive problem solving TRIZ, organisational measures for accelerating innovation, and IT-solutions for Computer-Aided Innovation, elaborated in the recent decade in the industry and academia

Speaker Biography:

Pavel Livotov, seasoned inventor, scientist and innovation consultant. Author of more than 80 patented inventions and 70 scientific publications. He has worked with TRIZ methodology since 1980, received his PhD in St. Petersburg, Russia in the field of robotics for aeronautic applications. From 1989 to 1993 he continued his research work at the University of Hanover, Germany as a senior scientist of Institute for Production Engineering and Machine Tools. From 1993 till 1999 he was the head of R&D department for robotics and material handling at Focke & Co, Germany. In 1998 he founded the TriSolver Group as first TRIZ engineering and consulting company in Germany and in the Switzerland. In 2000 he co-founded the European TRIZ Association - ETRIA where he was a president and since October 2017 is a member of the executive board. He is founder and general manager of the TriS Europe Innovation Academy and Professor for new product development and engineering design at the State Beuth University in Berlin and at the Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany.
