Connecting Disciplines Across Biological Scales
How can ideas from different disciplines come together to address challenges across biological scales?
Join us for "Connecting Disciplines Across Biological Scales", a special IEEE Women in Engineering session held as part of ACM NanoCom 2026. The session is organized in collaboration with the IEEE Newfoundland and Labrador Section Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group and co-sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Toronto Chapter.
The session brings together three invited speakers whose research spans biotechnology, biological systems, and related interdisciplinary fields:
-
Dr. Lourdes Peña-Castillo, Memorial University of Newfoundland
-
Dr. Kathrin Castiglione, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany
-
Dr. Cansu Canbek, Yeditepe University, Türkiye
Through a series of invited talks, the speakers will share their research perspectives and explore how collaboration across disciplines can support advances in biotechnology. The session will conclude with an audience Q&A, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas and connect with researchers working across different biological scales.
Students, researchers, academics, and professionals from all disciplines are welcome.
