*** DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MONDAY, JULY 20, 2026 ***

Dear YP Affinity Group Chairs,

I hope you’re all doing well. I’m writing to share an exciting opportunity for Young Professionals to step up as leaders within your Section — and I’d really appreciate your help spreading the word.

IEEE Region 4 is hosting its inaugural Humanitarian Technologies Workshop on August 7–9, 2026, in Indianapolis. Each Region 4 Section is being asked to nominate one representative to attend — and this is a fantastic opportunity for Young Professionals to raise their hand and represent their Section.

Why This Is a Great Opportunity for YPs
• Leadership visibility: Stepping up as your Section’s humanitarian technology representative is a meaningful, high-visibility leadership role — a great addition to your IEEE involvement and professional profile
• Skill building: You’ll learn how to start and lead a local IEEE SIGHT group, develop community impact project proposals, and navigate IEEE humanitarian funding programs (IEEE HT, Tech4Good, and more) — skills directly transferable to project management and grant writing in your career
• Networking: Connect with humanitarian technology champions, Section leaders, and fellow YPs from across Region 4, building a peer network that can support you well beyond the workshop
• Early access to funding pathways: Learn how to access seed funding for community projects — even a small grant can be the difference between an idea and a real, running initiative
• Funding: Region 4 covers two nights of hotel accommodation and all workshop meals; your Section is requested to cover your travel
• Rooftop Social: The planning committee is going to host a rooftop social in downtown Indianapolis on Friday, August 7th from 7 pm – 9 pm EDT, which provides an excellent opportunity for YPs to network with workshop attendees (more details to come)

This is a chance to bring real, tangible humanitarian impact back to your local community — while growing as a leader within IEEE.

What I’m Asking You To Do
If you, or a Young Professional in your Affinity Group, are interested and passionate about community impact:
1. Reach out to your Section Chair directly and let them know you’d like to be considered as the Section’s nominee
2. Confirm your interest with your Section Chair before July 20, 2026 (the nomination deadline), so they can submit your name through the official nomination form
I’d also encourage you to share this opportunity broadly within your Affinity Group — even members who aren’t in formal YP leadership roles are welcome to volunteer and ask their Section Chair to be considered.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me directly, or to Ranjit Ramakrishnan Nair (Region 4 Humanitarian Technology Coordinator) at ranju@ieee.org.

Let’s make sure Young Professionals are well represented in this important initiative — I look forward to hearing from many of you!

Best Regards,
