February Talk: Long Range Transmission Planning (HYBRID)
Abstract
MISO is transforming how it plans for and manages the transmission grid of the future. Given the complex changes underway, Long Range Transmission Planning (LRTP) helps in this effort by developing regional transmission projects to ensure the transmission system is reliable, economic, and compliant for the next 20 years and beyond. By proactively planning for long-term reliability, MISO remains committed to delivering a robust and adaptable system capable of supporting a sustainable and efficient energy future.

- In-person attendees, parking may be available as street parking along the east side of the Medical Sciences Building and in the consultants parking lot immediately east of the Medical Sciences Building. Please enter the building from the north or east entrance, as this is where our IEEE volunteers will be letting attendees in. If you arrive late, there will be contact information posted at these entrances to get a board member to let you in.

Jarred Miland, Regional Director of MISO, External Affairs North Region
Mr. Miland is a seasoned electric industry professional with significant experience in utility and RTO technical and business operations. He has spent 18 years at MISO in several roles managing initiatives in transmission planning, system operations, and tariff administration. In addition, Mr. Miland has 14 years of electric utility experience engaged in transmission planning, system operations, and strategic initiatives. As Regional Director, External Affairs, Mr. Miland works with various MISO Transmission Owners and other stakeholders to leverage his experience for key issues and initiatives that support grid operations, markets, and transmission planning in the MISO region. Mr. Miland holds a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering from North Dakota State University.
