Liebe Mitglieder der Deutschen Sektion der IEEE Education Society,

wie ihr vielleicht schon bemerkt habt, hat die Sektion seit fast einem Jahr einen neuen Vorstand (siehe unsere Website: https://r8.ieee.org/germany-education/).

Unser Ziel ist es, die Vernetzung zwischen den Mitgliedern innerhalb der Sektion zu stärken. Als erste Netzwerkaktivität laden wir Euch alle zu einem virtuellen Netzwerktreffen

am Dienstag, 13. Januar 2026, von 18:30 bis 20:00 Uhr MEZ/CET

ein.

Wir haben für euch ein abwechslungsreiches Programm vorbereitet:

• Keynote von Prof. Dr. Peter Riegler, Ostfalia Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften zum Thema Warum Innovation in der MINT-Lehre langsam ist - Lektionen aus der Medizin

• Aktuelle Informationen vom Executive Committee des Chapters (Webauftritt, GECon, EDUCON)

• Networking in Breakout-Räumen zum Kennenlernen, Finden von Anknüpfungspunkten für gemeinsame Projekte oder zum zwanglosen Austausch.

Den Link zur zoom-Session erhaltet ihr bei Rückmeldung an axel.c.boettcher@ieee.org. Bitte gebt Axel bis zum 30.12.2025 Bescheid, damit wir die Breakout-Räume vorplanen können. Wenn ihr Vorschläge für Themen habt, schickt diese gerne in eurer Antwort-Mail direkt mit.

Außerdem möchten wir Euch über die folgenden bevorstehenden Veranstaltungen informieren:

• Die German Education Conference GECon findet 2026 zum fünften Mal statt, diesmal vom 20. bis 22. Juli in Ilmenau. Den Call for Papers findet Ihr hier: https://r8.ieee.org/germany-education/german-education-conference/

• Wir organisieren eine Special Session auf der nächsten EDUCON in Kairo: SS13: Assessment in the Age of Artificial Intelligence - Opportunities and Challenges Across the Examination Cycle (siehe Call for Papers hier: https://2026.ieee-educon.org/authors/special-session-papers). Bitte beachtet: Die Einreichungsfrist ist schon der 17. November 2026.

• Derzeit gibt es erste Überlegungen, die EDUCON 2027 (oder später) nach Deutschland zu holen. Wer an einer Teilnahme im Organisationsteam interessiert ist, kontaktiert uns bitte.

Dear members of the Germany Section Chapter of the IEEE Education Society,

As you may have noticed, the chapter has had a new executive committee in place for almost a year now (see our website: https://r8.ieee.org/germany-education/).

We want to increase activity and networking between members within the chapter. As a first networking activity we invite all of you to attend a virtual networking meeting on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 18:30-20:00 p.m. MEZ/CET.

Our agenda will be as follows:

• Keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Peter Riegler, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences on Warum Innovation in der MINT-Lehre langsam ist - Lektionen aus der Medizin (in German)

• Information update from chapter's ExCom (Web-site, GECon, EDUCON)

• Networking in breakout rooms to get to know each other, find common ground for joint projects, or engage in informal discussions.

You will receive the link to the Zoom session when you reply to axel.c.boettcher@ieee.org. Please let Axel know by December 30, 2025, so that we can plan the breakout rooms in advance. If you have any suggestions for topics, please include them in your reply email.

We also want to inform you about the following upcoming events:

• We are chairing a special session on next EDUCON in Cairo: SS13: Assessment in the Age of Artificial Intelligence - Opportunities and Challenges Across the Examination Cycle (see the cfp here: https://2026.ieee-educon.org/authors/special-session-papers). Please note: deadline is approaching on Nov. 17, 2026

• Efforts are currently being made to bring EDUCON 2027 (or later) to Germany. If you are interested in participating, please contact us.
