IEEE CS Türkiye Chapter AI Talk Series Invitation: RL Lectures

Title of the Second RL Talk Series:
From Trial to Triumph: The Foundations of RL in Practice
Abstract:
Following the foundational concepts introduced in the first session, this talk explores how Reinforcement Learning (RL) is applied in practice to solve real-world problems. Participants will be introduced to step-by-step learning workflows, classic RL algorithms such as Q-learning and policy gradient methods, and practical considerations when deploying RL agents.
This session aims to provide a clear, practice-oriented perspective on RL by highlighting not only where these methods excel but also where they struggle. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how to frame problems for RL, how learning agents are trained, and what it takes to design robust, adaptive AI systems.
This talk is ideal for those preparing to advance their knowledge toward real-world applications of RL, including students, researchers, and professionals.
Speaker Bio:
Emir Arditi is a Ph.D. Candidate in Computer Engineering at Özyeğin University. His research focuses on Reinforcement Learning and Inverse Reinforcement Learning. He has been an active IEEE member for nine years, contributing to various leadership and organizational roles. His team has placed first in the IEEEXtreme Programming Competition three times and ranked among the Top 100 teams in IEEE Region 8 twice.
