Announcing the IEEE EDS & Tech4Good Call for Proposals

Children gather around a large, colorful van with a satellite dish on top, engaging in an educational outreach program.

EDS Chapters and Members are invited to submit a project proposal to an exciting funding opportunity from the IEEE Electron Devices Society and Tech4Good. This collaborative call for proposals is a unique opportunity for EDS members to use their skillset and expertise to apply technology for social impact.

Projects must focus on people first, rather than starting with a particular technology that needs to find a use. Teams can apply for US$2,500 to US$10,000 to implement their project related to:

  • Agricultural technology (SDG 2: Zero Hunger) - e.g., provide small farmers access to market information and services
  • Clean water technology (SDG 6: Clean Water & Sanitation) - e.g., provide communities with access to potable water or implement smart sanitation systems
  • Affordable and clean energy (SDG 7: Affordable & Clean Energy) - e.g., connectivity infrastructure and sensors to deploy and enable clean energy systems

To participate, teams must submit a letter of intent by the 30 June extended deadline. More details are available on the IEEE HT website.

Region 8 Tech4Good Call For Proposals

Call for proposals for the 2025 Community Support Program by IEEE Region 8 & IEEE Tech4Good. Deadline: August 1st.

IEEE Region 8 and IEEE Tech4Good (T4G) are partnering to conduct a collaborative call for proposals to support SIGHT Groups (and prospective SIGHT Groups) in Region 8 who would like to address local community challenges.

The IEEE Region 8 Humanitarian Technology Activities Committee (R8 HTAC) takes a futurist approach, aiding the development of innovative methods to support underserved communities within the region in addressing needs to improve livelihood. The core aim of this call for proposals is to support SIGHT Groups in the region with great initiatives and creative technological solutions for local communities. Proposed solutions must have a sustainability plan in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and take into account cost-effectiveness, environmental sustainability, trust-enhancement, relevance to users and community, community buy-in, and accessibility.

Submit a proposal by 1 August. To find out more information, visit the IEEE HT website.
