Strategies for Excellence in Academic Research and Publication
This seminar aims to share various tips and best practices to achieve excellence in academic research. The talk will start with discussing how to perform research that creates an impact to the community. It will be followed by discussions on how to write up that research in a way that will attract audiences to read your articles. We will then discuss how to make oral presentations that will get your idea across to your audiences and attract collaborations. Finally, we will talk about academic integrity and ethical academic practices.
Previous runs of this event were well attended by graduate students from Engineering, Computer Science, Social Work, Kinesiology and even an exchange student on the Mitacs Globalink program. Some of the feedback from the participants include "Very informative", "Lots of things that I should have known", "Great Experience", "Very Insightful", etc..
