Dear members of the IEEE Lebanon Section,

As part of its preparations for the elections at the Section, Chapter and Affinity Group levels, the Nominating Committee consisting of Mr. Ghassan Shaban, Prof. Imad Elhajj and Prof. Hadi Sawaya invites all members to read the below text carefully and advise the Committee of any election-related concern.

The Committee announces the opening date for all nominations to be July 24, 2024, and the closing date and time of nominations to be Saturday, September 07, 2024, at 11:55 pm, in accordance with the IEEE bylaws.

In compliance with the Section bylaws towards the Lebanese Government, the IEEE Lebanon Section members should elect the following six officers, all at the Section level:

Secretary
Treasurer
Accountant
Representative to the Government 
 

The date set for the elections is Saturday, December 07, 2024. Therefore, and in accordance with the Lebanese law, all nominees and eligible voters should have paid the Lebanese registration fees (10,000 Lebanese Pounds) three months before the date of the elections. Thus, members who would like to participate in the elections must send an email to the Treasurer of the Section Dr. Jacques Demerjian (jacques.demerjian@ul.edu.lb) before Saturday, September 07, 2024, notifying him of their intent to pay the 10,000 Lebanese pounds and participate in the elections. Kindly note also that Section members should have paid their dues to the IEEE for the year 2024 to be able to vote.

In addition, there will also be elections for all officer positions in the Chapters and Affinity Groups. We are considering the options of either having these elections on the same day as for the Section (Saturday, December 07, 2024), either in-person or online using the IEEE v-tools. The opening positions for the Chapters and Affinity Groups are listed below:

A member can nominate any volunteer who would like to serve in a specific position. Self-nominations are also allowed. The nominator and the nominee should be active members of IEEE at the day of elections, and members of the organizational unit (Chapter, Affinity Group) in which they are applying for a position.

Election results for all positions, including the six key officers of the Section, will be announced on December 07, 2024.
