2025 Region 3 - Area 1 - Call for Nominations

Dear IEEE Region 3 Area 1 Members,

We in Region 3 need your help!  We have exciting opportunities for you to make a real impact and help shape the future of your Section and the Region!

By becoming an IEEE volunteer, you open yourself up to a world of opportunities for personal and professional growth, and leadership roles that would complement your profession & your resume. Connect and collaborate with like-minded individuals who share your passion for advancing technology. Expand your network and enhance your leadership skills through organizing events, meetings, and projects. Invite distinguished experts to share insights and stay updated with cutting-edge research. Give back by promoting STEM education in K-12 schools through outreach programs and mentoring. Make a difference in young minds, inspire innovation, and shape the future.  Section Chairs or their designee also get to participate in Region 3’s annual SoutheastCon and IEEE’s tri-annual Sections Congress.

We are currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers for many of the Sections in Region 3 for several of the leadership positions.  Depending on the Section this may be a one year or two-year commitment.

1.     Chair – As the Chair in 2025, you will play a pivotal role in leading your Section and paving the way for the year ahead.  This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with the 2025 Vice-Chair in managing the Section's activities.

2.     Vice Chair – As the Vice Chair in 2025, you will play a pivotal role in leading your Section and paving the way for the year ahead. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with the 2025 Chair and gain valuable experience in managing your Section's activities.

3.     Treasurer – Are you passionate about numbers and financial management? As Section Treasurer, you will be responsible for overseeing the Section's finances, maintaining accurate records, managing approved budgets, and completing the annual report. Your meticulous attention to detail and financial expertise will ensure the smooth operation of our Section's activities.

4.     Secretary – The role of Secretary is essential for maintaining effective communication and documentation within your Section. As Secretary, you will be responsible for recording minutes during meetings, handling official correspondence, and assisting in the coordination of Section events and activities. Your organizational skills and attention to detail will be invaluable in keeping our Section running smoothly.

5.     Additional Positions – If you are still not sure in any of the above positions, each Section has multitude of positions such as Committee Chair(s), Member-at-Large, and ad hoc committees that you could add value and serve your Section and community.

Self-nominations for these positions are encouraged! If you are passionate about driving change and contributing to the success of your Section, we encourage you to submit your self-nomination by reaching out to your Section or to the Regional Area Chairs.  By now, each Section that is looking for potential candidates, should have established their nomination committees.  If you are not sure how to contact your current Section officers or the nomination committee, please contact your Area Chair, James Imanian.  For your reference, Area 1 includes the following Sections:
