Dear IEEE R9 research community,

IEEE Region 8 Entrepreneurship together with IEEE Region 8, in organization with GITEX Global are inviting you to submit your published research papers on AI to be presented at the “AI Research Hub” taking place at GITEX Global, in Dubai, on October 18th, 2024.

GITEX Global, is the largest tech show in the world, which gathers over 170,000 attendees, 5000 exhibitors and 1400 speakers from 176 countries. The 44th edition of GITEX Global is taking place in October this year in Dubai World Trade Center, bringing together major players in academia, government, and industry. The event consists of eight co-located shows on coding and software development, AI, fintech, smart city  development, 5G connectivity, cyber security, blockchain and more.

The IEEE Region 8 AI Research Hub will have 5 spots available for keynote presentations - four sector agnostic and one focused on AI For Climate Change. Given limited spots for keynote presentations, a committee of evaluators will select five best submissions and authors will be invited to present at GITEX to a panel of academic and industry experts in AI, including Stephen Ibaraki, the founder of AI For Good, and in front of a wide audience. Travel and accommodation for top 5 authors will be covered by GITEX Global - DevSlam.

All presenters will receive a token of appreciation for their participation, in addition to the chance to win in three award categories:

1. Most Innovative Research Paper, adding to the field of AI - selected by panel of judges
2. Highest Commercialization Potential, for paper with highest potential for business applications - selected by panel of judges
3. Audience Choice - Best paper and presentation, selected by the audience

To be considered, papers and authors need to meet the following criteria: 

● Research has been published in IEEE journal or a high-profile conference in 2023 or 2024
● Research covers a topic within the field of artificial intelligence, with a focus on AI for Good
● Research has social impact and sustainability goal
● Research has commercialization potential
● Presenting author and nominee is a Young Professional (within 15 years from BSc, based on IEEE definitions) - other authors listed in the research/publication can be of any category

● Paper published in IEEE journal or a high-profile conference in 2023 or 2024
● Up to 5-minute video explaining their research / paper with a focus on key scientific findings and their originality

Submissions will be assessed based on the following criteria:

● Innovation and originality
● Relevance to the scope
● Quality of technical content, structure, use of language, and presentation
● Interdisciplinary approach
● Impact on sustainability and social benefit
● Extent of commercial potential

Deadline for submissions is: August 11, 2024 - August 25, 2024

IEEE Region 8 Entrepreneurship is a Committee within IEEE Region 8 (Europe, Africa and Middle East) focused on enabling tech entrepreneurs and growing this ecosystem. IEEE Entrepreneurship is a global IEEE initiative focused on deep tech entrepreneurship. Our partnership with GITEX Global - DevSlam and this AI Doctorate Symposium aims to bring together the academia and entrepreneurship communities on topics of AI.
