The following message is sent on behalf of Kenneth Lam, SPS Vice President-Membership
The IEEE SPS Membership Board has planned to launch the Ambassador Program as a pilot. This is an initiative aimed at providing a platform for our members to become more involved in the Society. It is not a formal, defined role, but rather an approachable and simple way for different levels of members to engage with the resources and messaging provided by the Society. The Ambassadors will network with other members, in particular young professionals, and entice them to join the SPS community, and they can also serve as potential candidates for the Membership Board’s committees and subcommittees.
Ambassadors will be encouraged to engage in any activities related to signal processing, such as writing articles, blogging, podcasting, posting/sharing SPS news on social media, giving presentations, conducting webinars, etc. A virtual training program will be provided for Ambassadors to equip them with information about SPS, as well as their possible roles and activities.
We plan to conduct a small pilot of 5 – 10 Ambassadors for a period of approximately six months, during which we will gather feedback from the Ambassadors to refine the program.
Candidates for the Ambassador Program can be nominated or recommended by Membership Board Members, Chairs/Members of Committees/Subcommittees under the Membership Board, and SPS Chapter Chairs.
Here is the timeline for the program:
· Deadline for Nomination: 18 June 2024
· Selection: 19 June 2024 – 28 June 2024
· Start of the Ambassador Program: 1 July 2024
Criteria for selection: The nominee must be an SPS student member or higher-grade member for at least 6 months. The selection will consider their experience in participating in SPS activities and the statement on how they will support the Ambassador Program.
The nomination form is attached to this email. We look forward to your active participation in nominating potential candidates for this program. Please keep in mind the different dimensions of diversity when making your nominations.
Thank you for your attention and support.
Best wishes,
Kenneth Lam
IEEE SPS VP-Membership
