May Talk Recording Available now: AI Advancements in Healthcare: Automated Whole‐Brain Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning

We experienced some last-minute technical difficulties which caused us to be unable to livestream the May technical talk. The recording for the talk is now available on the Southern MN IEEE Section's YouTube. The description for the event is detailed below.

More than 40% of patients with cancer develop brain metastases, and Whole-Brain Radiation Therapy (WBRT) treatment is a well-established treatment for patients with brain metastases by radiologically controlling both visible tumors and invisible micro-metastases. However, conventional WBRT treatment planning is time-consuming. In addition, institutions vary in their clinical approaches to WBRT treatment planning. Furthermore, limited resources in low-to-middle-income countries can lead to delays, especially with regard to human resources. In this work, we developed, evaluated, and deployed a fully automated, muti-approaches, AI-based treatment planning solution for whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT).
