Open Source Neuromorphic IC Design Workshop

Hello Everyone,

Get ready to embark on an exciting journey of innovation at Ignite Imaginations & Inspire Iconic Innovations (i5), a thrilling three-day National Level Convention hosted by the six esteemed society chapters of the IEEE Kerala Section in collaboration with IEEE Kerala Section and IEEE India Council.

Join us for a cutting-edge workshop on "Open Source Neuromorphic IC Design" conducted by Prof. Alex James and the dynamic team at Digital University Kerala. Gain invaluable insights into open source neuromorphic design, simulation of LIF neuron models, and hands-on training with open-source chip design tools.

You will learn - basics of neural networks, hardware circuit equivalents and how about building a career in this field. Several leading technology companies are actively engaged in the exploration and development of neuromorphic VLSI (Very Large-Scale Integration) technologies. Intel Corporation is investing in energy-efficient processors inspired by the human brain, exemplified by their Loihi neuromorphic research chip. IBM Corporation, a pioneer in cognitive computing, has introduced the TrueNorth chip designed for low-power, event-driven processing. BrainChip Holdings Ltd specializes in neuromorphic edge AI with its Akida Neuromorphic System-on-Chip. NVIDIA Corporation, known for GPUs, has delved into spiking neural networks and energy-efficient computing. Qualcomm Incorporated focuses on neuromorphic computing for edge devices, while General Vision Inc specializes in neuromorphic vision systems. Samsung Electronics integrates neuromorphic concepts into its broader AI research initiatives. HRL Laboratories, LLC conducts research in neuromorphic engineering, and CogniMem Technologies offers memory-based solutions for pattern recognition. AiCTX AG specializes in neuromorphic VLSI design, and Lattice Semiconductor Corporation explores low-power and edge AI applications. These companies collectively contribute to the advancing field of neuromorphic VLSI, exploring its applications across various domains.

This is the perfect opportunity for B-Tech final year students, M-Tech students, and working professionals passionate about circuit design to come together.

By participating, you can also become a part of the Maker CASS club, a collaborative initiative by Maker Village, Kochi, and IEEE CASS Kerala Chapter Society. Maker CASS aims to unite startups and the Circuits and Systems society, creating a vibrant community focused on semiconductors and VLSI. Expect exciting activities, hackathons, and numerous internship opportunities for circuit enthusiasts. Win project support worth Rs 2 Lakhs for doing your final year project.

Don't miss out – join us for an enriching experience at i5!

Best Regards,
