I (Nirmal Nair) have been nominated to run for 2017 IEEE Division VII Director-elect which is a position elected by PES members to serve our collective interests in the IEEE Governing Board. During the 2016 IEEE election cycle which begins 15 August 2016, you as an IEEE PES member will receive your election ballot through email where you will see my name in the voting list.

My engagement with IEEE since 1990, firstly enjoying membership benefits followed by active volunteerism reflects IEEE being a “professional home” for me.

I have pursued various elected and nominated roles for both MGA (Section and Region) and Technical activities (PES Chapter). I am actively involved with organizing PES conferences, editorial boards, life-long-learning product development, constitution and bylaws, student activities, awards and N&A activities, Section/Chapter/Council leadership, Centre for leadership excellence material development and identifying volunteers/leadership for effective operation of our several volunteer units.

Operating from Region 10, I also bring experiences of synergy with other international technical, standards, policy and engineering associations to help IEEE PES’s globalization, partnership and engagement strategies.

My position statement and IEEE volunteering experiences are available from here. My responses to standard Q&A regarding IEEE challenges can be found out from here. Our PES society has also kindly arranged to have my CV and position statement information listed which can be accessed online.

I gave my candidate speech during the IEEE PES GM 2016 Members opening ceremony in Boston this July. The video link is made available in the conference website

Apart from considering voting for me, I will appreciate if you could actively canvas to spread the word about supporting me amongst your PES colleagues and acquaintances.  I humbly seek your support to help deliver my vision and opportunity to serve PES members in the IEEE governing board.

Through this email I request you to factor my candidate statement (also available in the election ballot material online when you visit there) and consider voting  by visiting IEEE election weblink:
