The "Volunteer Recognition Program" of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section for the year 2022 was held last week on the 11th of March 2023 at the NSBM Green University, Homagama.

IEEE Sri Lanka Section has close to 400 volunteers (excluding officers) in multiple sectional initiatives across multiple committees and Sectional OUs. These include the Student Activities Committee (SLSAC), IEEE Young Professional Sri Lanka (YP), IEEE SIGHT Sri Lanka, IEEE WIE Sri Lanka, IEEE CS Sri Lanka Chapter, IEEE IAS Sri Lanka Chapter, and other Sectional OUs. The above program was organized to appreciate the year-long commitment of all the volunteers for their unwavering commitment and dedication throughout the last year.

While recognizing all the volunteers across different OUs, this year, going beyond, we applauded the exceptional contributions of the very best of our volunteers (~5-10%) who went the extra mile to make a significant difference. Their efforts have enabled us to achieve our organizational goals and have made a positive difference in the lives of many individuals. We believe that they will stand out as exemplary leaders in the IEEE volunteering community guiding and nurturing an entire generation of volunteers.

Hence, for the first time, we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate their hard work and achievements. Let us take a moment to recognize their dedication and commitment:

As a first-time effort, we made our best effort within a limited time period to represent most of the OUs in the Section and provide equitable opportunities for them to have exceptional volunteers in their OUs be recognized. The selection of OUs and committees was based on the number of events conducted within the year and the calibre of the events. The recognized volunteers were recommended by the respective OU or the committee. Based on the continuous improvement of the program and the lessons learned from this year's program, we aim to present an improved version of this program next year.

Once again, we are thankful to all our volunteers for their exceptional service.
