IEEE MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

 
 
 
Advancing your member grade can bring added peer recognition to your accomplishments. Here are the IEEE membership grades:
 
  • Student member: Once an IEEE Student member or Graduate Student member reaches his or her graduation date, IEEE elevates them to the next grade of IEEE membership. 50% discount off IEEE dues the first year after graduation.
  • Associate member grade: Designed for technical and non-technical individuals who do not meet the qualifications for member.
  • Member grade: Limited to those who have satisfied IEEE-specified educational and professional requirements.
  • Senior member grade: Is the highest for which application may be made and requires experience reflecting professional maturity.
  • Fellow member: Recognitions unusual distinction in the profession and is conferred only by invitation of the Board of Directors.
  • Life Member: Is applicable only to a member who has reached the age of 65 years and who has been a member of IEEE, which sumary is at least 100 years.
