DESCRIPTION:Talk of Ass.-Prof. Dr. Michael Barros\, AUniversity of Essex\,
UK\n\nIn this talk\, we explore the field of embodied neuroengineering as
a novel paradigm where biological substrates—such as neurons\, astrocyte
s\, and organoids—actively participate in information processing and com
munication. We present our multiscale computational modeling techniques th
at utilize stochastic and deterministic methods\, including the Gillespie
algorithm\, to accurately simulate neuron-astrocyte communication and logi
c operations at molecular and cellular scales. Furthermore\, we discuss ou
r innovative experimental approaches\, such as in-vitro biocomputing platf
orms that employ synthetic biological intelligence and bioprinted construc
ts. Finally\, we highlight our advancements in wireless biointerfaces\, pa
rticularly ultrasound-powered microdevices designed to interface seamlessl
y with living neural tissues. Our research not only redefines neural inter
faces and biohybrid technologies but also opens unprecedented pathways in
molecular and unconventional communication systems\, offering novel soluti
ons for challenges in scalability\, adaptability\, and integration within
neuro engineering frameworks.\n\nCo-sponsored by: Johannes Kepler Universi
