IEEE IAS Richmond - Chapter Formation Meeting

Chapter Organizing Meeting

Get in on the ground floor!  A group of IEEE members is hosting a meeting at Postbellum to discuss the formation of a new local chapter of the Industry Applications Society!  This is a big opportunity to bring focus within your professional area of interest.  The formation process requires an Organizer and 12 Petitioners; i.e., IEEE Members enrolled in the Industry Applications Society (IAS) for the past six months. We have reserved a private room.

Event Details:

Postbellum (https://www.postbellumrichmond.com/)

Address: 1323 W Main St, Richmond, VA 23220

Thursday March 5th 2020 from 5pm to 7pm

Food & Beverage provided.

If you are an IAS member or have an interest in becoming an IAS member, please join us at this gathering.  This will be a great opportunity to network with others in your field.  All interested members in IEEE Richmond-Fredericksburg, Student IEEE, or non-IEEE members are invited to attend.

If you are interested but cannot attend this meeting, please reach out by email to the 'Contact' listed below.

Please register, even if you just might make the event, so we can make sure that all can be accommodated.  We have reserved a private room for the event and there will be appetizers and beverages while we discuss our ideas for what IAS RVA can be!  We have met a few times to discuss things over dinner but will figure out a way to mix it up at this gathering so that everyone will have a chance to meet everyone else.

If you can't stay, that's fine, but register, provide your email address and stop by.  In that fashion, we can follow-up.  Also, be aware that if you Sign-in on the registration form, it will automatically populate with your member number, saving someone having to look it up after the event.

If you are not an IEEE member, or not in the IAS but interested, please register and attend.  We are interested in determining your interest, and all are welcome.  Bring a guest, a colleague who may or may not be an IEEE member.  There is no obligation to join, volunteer or participate, but we think you will find value in the formation of a local chapter within the IEEE Richmond Section.

In addition to networking and educational opportunities, we envision IAS Richmond can do much more for our community than any of us can do alone or in our own specific industry. Some discussion topics include:

  1. What was the motivating factor that led to forming this geographic unit? What member needs will be fulfilled as a result of forming this unit?
  2. List the activities the unit will focus on for the first six months. What activities will engage the members of the unit with one another?
  3. What accomplishments will this unit strive to meet in its first year?
  4. What level of local support is engaged in support of the unit activities?

Many thanks, we look forward to seeing you!

Chuck Niedermayer, PE

Joe Woermer

Josh Rosato
