Talk: 

      The talk will cover several areas of interest to Consultants/Entrepreneurs:
      

Entity Selection for New Business:

 the liability implications of Sole proprietorship, Partnerships, Limited liability companies and Corporations/S-Corps including the tax implications of different entity structures. 

Social Security implications will also be discussed:

 Income levels in which social security is taxed, and Wisconsin handling of taxing social security

.
      The Tax Cuts & Jobs Act includes several things that will have an impact on individuals: New tax rates, Changes in standard deductions, Personal exemption changes, Deductibility of state on local taxes, ACA Individual mandate
.  In addition, there will be an impact on business owners including: Corporate tax rates, Meals and entertainment changes, Section 179/Bonus depreciation,  and Qualified business income deduction.

Bio: 

        Patrick Paulus, CPA is a founding partner with Capitol Tax and Accounting Group LLC. He was with a large regional accounting firm prior to founding Capitol Tax and Accounting Group with Brian Loeck. He has provided assurance, accounting, consulting and tax services for retail, construction, service, and real estate industries. Pat also works with individuals on tax issues specific to their needs including pass-through business income, tax planning, compliance, consulting, and tax return preparation. Pat is a certified public accountant and holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in Accounting and Finance from Valparaiso University. He and his wife Dana live in Monona, Wisconsin with their golden retriever, Enzo.
