Towards high-level automation on public roads: the French touch (Distinguished Lecture Series Talk)
By Vicente Milanes, head of autonomous driving at Renault.

Museo Elder (Science Museum). Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. September, 14. 2017.

This presentation will focus on the latest development on automated vehicles in France. It will review some of the significant national research projects on the field; including the current developments from car makers. Three years ago, the French government launched a real ambitious plan to revitalize the industry in France. Among the 35 proposed topics, automated vehicle deployment was identified as one of the key future industrial development, paving the road for granting permission to test automated vehicles on open roads. Since then, different institutions have carried out a number of test either from private use car or for public transport (mainly last mile) use cases. The presentation will introduce the latest development on the subject, introducing the Renault approach.
