IEEE Technical hybrid seminar at Chalmers by Dr. Mikael Coldrey, Wed Nov 30, 2022

Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the IEEE Sweden VT/COM/IT Chapter in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology, we would like to invite you to the following IEEE Technical hybrid seminar by Dr. Mikael Coldrey, Ericsson Research, Lindholmen, Sweden.

Title: Wireless transport in the 5G era

Time: 15:00-16:15 CET Wed Nov 30, 2022

Room: Edit Room Analysen, EDIT building floor 3, Hörsalsvägen 11, Chalmers, Map: Campus Johanneberg: Analysen (chalmers.se)

Online Zoom: https://chalmers.zoom.us/j/62477252758, password: 672017 (alternative connections below)

Local host: Prof. Tommy Svensson, Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, tommy.svensson@chalmers.se.

Abstract: Wireless transport is a key enabler of cost-effective, fast, and flexible roll-out of radio access networks (RAN). In fact, about 40% (world-wide) of RAN sites are today connected via wireless transport, and we see that wireless transport will continue to play an important role also in future generations of wireless communications systems. This is an overview presentation of wireless transport in the 5G era. We will visit use cases, requirements, spectrum, technology, and future research directions towards 6G.

Biography: Mikael Coldrey received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2006 from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, and his M.Sc. degree in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering in 2000 from Linköping University, Sweden. He joined Ericsson Research as a Research Engineer in 2006 where he is currently Principal Researcher. Between 2017-2020 he was Head of Microwave Systems Research at Ericsson Research. Between 2012-2018 he was Adjunct Associate Professor at Chalmers University of Technology. In 2020 he received the Docent (habilitation) promotion from Chalmers and was the same year appointed Adjunct Professor in Communication Systems at the same university. His main research interests are in the areas of wireless communications, signal processing, advanced antenna systems, and millimeter wave communications for radio access and wireless transport systems.

Welcome!

Best regards,
Tommy Svensson, VT/COM/IT Sweden Chapter
