Are You Awake Nights?

To Life Members in Vancouver Section,

There is a 24 hour computing contest called IEEE Xtreme on 2022-Oct-22 for students from around the world.
 https://ieeextreme.org
The Simon Fraser student branch in Burnaby is thinking about entering a team, but they need a proctor; some IEEE higher grade member who makes sure the students don't "google the answers" or "phone a friend".
 https://ieeextreme.org/eligibility/

When I was a proctor several years ago, it was held at a student's home where they had a gas powered generator in case the power went out and unlimited snacks in his parent's fridge ;-)
Now it is possible to proctor virtually, so you can do it while staying at home. (I think in-person is better.)

The student team has to register by 2022-Oct-12 (23:59 UTC / 16:59 PDT), so if you can proctor please contact Nav Sidhu <navpreet_singh_sidhu@sfu.ca> and copy Vahideh Shirmohammadli <vahideh_shirmohammadli@sfu.ca>.
Also copy me, John Harris <j.harris@ieee.org>, your LMAG chair Carl Zanon  <sczanon@shaw.ca>, and the Vancouver Section chair, Matthew Wilder <matthew.wilder@ieee.org> so we can keep track of possible interest.
The students may have a meeting with Vancouver Section executive the second week of October (after IEEE Day) to determine if they have a proctor and insomniac students so they can compete.
